'This Account Has Been Suspended'

Postby Cam » 08 Sep 2006, 15:41

Apparently the sites were producing too many database queries so it had to be taken offline earlier. This is why some of you may of seen the above message.

I rang the hosts and asked them to email me instead of pulling the plug in future, so I could resolve it myself. So hopefully they will do as I asked and not let it come to this stage again.

In the meantime I'll be looking into reducing the database load. :)

Few things changed:

Cached the template, which means pages will load faster and templates won't require anything from the database.
Search interval increased to 30 secs - so if you need to search then you'll have to wait a bit longer to search again.
Post interval increased to 15 secs (also applies to shoutbox).
Refresh on index page increased from 5 minutes to 10 minutes.

If funding is an issue cam we can get some of these tight scroats to get donating. Its only when its gone that you realise how valuable this resource is.

It's a joint account, all sites are run from one main account. Although each database is seperate, the load is calculated on a whole from all DBs.

Donations are plentyful, so no need for any more. It's just a few changes on the site that has to be made, which will hopefully sort it. If not then a dedicated server would be the next option.
