MacDonald's anti-biker policy

Postby Jim Rolley » 24 Jul 2012, 03:36

Dear All, I think we need to write, en-masse, to MacD's about their ridiculous serving policy at 24hr restaurants.

Just finished a long shift, riding home at 3am, needed a coffee. Parked and approached the window on foot only to be told that I could only be served if I were in a vehicle. I explained that I was on a motorbike and that carrying a hot drink would be nigh-on impossible, not to mention dangerous. The "manager" said that he could loose his job if he broke company policy!

I wonder what the police / H&S etc. would have to say?

Just vote with your wallet and go elsewhere.

I wouldn't eat there anyway, I prefer my burgers not to be made of ears, noses and fannies.

You are talking about a Drive-Through arn't you. I do believe that its a vehicle "only lane" and for fairly obvious health and safety reasons they won't serve people on foot. They are all cameraed up so they couldn't make an exception even for you  If they did,.. you could both get on the McDs training course video of how not to do it :scratchhead: and how to get the sack in one easy sale  They are not anti-biker they seem to welcome bikes at most McDs

They would have served you on the bike so why didn't you ride in? Ask for it bagged and ride out of the vehicle lane. :!: Problem solved ;) It's not the type of vehicle just that the Drive-Through road is a no pedestrian road, similar to the rail tracks in a tiny railway station..even if a train is not due at all that day... we are still not allowed to walk on the tracks and would be asked to move off them...they certainly wouldn't do business with us standing on the track  If they did sell us a train ticket while we stood on the track they would expect trouble from their bosses for doing so.

MacDonald's anti-biker policy

Postby Jim Rolley » 24 Jul 2012, 14:39

I did actually ride round in the end. And the chap serving was very apologetic as he placed my drink in a holder and then in a bag so i could sit it on the dials before riding the *FIVE YARDS* to the first parking spot! And yes, I always ride in Hi-Viz! Ringing head office now ;-)
